About

Ocean intelligence.
Fishing instinct.

Pelagic State turns satellite and ocean-model data into clear, honest charts for people who fish offshore, so less of the day goes on searching and more goes on fishing.

Why we exist

The information that shows where pelagic fish are likely to be (temperature breaks, water colour, currents, eddies) is collected every day by satellites and ocean models. It's usually scattered across scientific websites in formats built for researchers. We bring it together on one chart that makes sense at the boat ramp.

Accurate, and easy to read

We want you to be able to trust what you see and understand it. Every layer shows how old its data is. Estimates are labelled as estimates. Gaps stay gaps instead of being filled with guesses. When something is uncertain, the chart tells you.

Made in New Zealand

Pelagic State is built in New Zealand, for New Zealand waters, starting with the North Island, and tested on the water by people who fish them.

World-class data

Our layers are built from sources including the E.U. Copernicus Marine Service, NASA and NOAA, JAXA's Himawari-9 satellite, Land Information New Zealand and GEBCO. See every source.

Built for the water

Download your area before you go, drop marks that record the conditions where you dropped them, and record your trip, all from a phone and without signal.

Your data is yours

Your marks, tracks and spots belong to you. We don't sell personal information or show advertising. Read our privacy policy.
